Rwanda Opportunities (RwandOpp) is a registered NGO in Rwanda. We are a group of daring social innovators who supports the Rwandan youth to become makers and leaders and give them the tools, knowledge, and networks to create opportunities and successfully transform their communities. We partner with young people and their communities to reach their full potential by shaping them to become makers in their communities and lending their hands to the people in need.
OUR STORY
Rwanda Opportunities (RwandOpp) Organization was founded in 2018 by our founders from the inspiration of the International Citizen Services (ICS) programme with Tearfund that they took part in from 2014 to 2015 as volunteers and within the Green Saves Project, they founded after completing the ICS program.
The Green Saves Project was funded by the International Citizen Service (ICS) and Tearfund in 2015 and it was operated in the Bweramvura Refugee camp that was occupied by a Rwandese returnee from Tanzania. The project served to improve the beneficiaries’ nutrition by teaching them how to make small kitchen gardens.
The project also helped with finances by teaching them about saving, enabling them to start small saving groups to help them get small loans and improve their financial status. Family planning, teamwork and other related courses were also delivered in the camp.
The root of this project was to build relationships with the beneficiaries; thus, helping them to re-establish their hopes of a good life. You can find more about this project HERE.
After the ICS program and the Green Saves Project, our founders were students at the University of Rwanda, they have been involved in different initiatives afterwards and after they came up with the idea of creating an online platform to share a different range of opportunities for information such as jobs, training, workshops, events, scholarships and so many more. They named the platform “RwandOpp (Rwanda Opportunities)“ which was a web-based and mobile application that was notifying users of different opportunities shared on it.
RwandOpp (Rwanda Opportunities) platform was also their final year’s project when they were graduating from the University of Rwanda in Computer and Software Engineering.
In 2018, our founders turned the platform into an NGO (Rwanda Opportunities Organisation (RwandOpp)) to help youth living in rural communities in Rwanda to have equal access to opportunities like youth living in cities. We started with the Nyabihu District as one of the rural districts and we hope to reach out to many districts in the future.

Our Objectives
- Enhance both youth and students’ capacity and raise awareness of the social impact activist’s mindset to young people through education sessions on leadership, health and entrepreneurship.
- Promote the talents of youth in the rural area through talent show events.
- Promote digital skills literacy among young people in rural areas and connect them to different opportunities through ICT and entrepreneurship workshops.
- Stimulate the dreams and imagination of young people and children from rural areas through the promotion of a reading culture.
